EMG-based vibro-tactile biofeedback improves motor control in children with secondary dystonia: two case reports

چکیده
To tackle the limits of the literature investigating biofeedback training in children with secondary dystonia, the current study employs a wearable and silent EMG-based biofeedback device that aims at improving control over the impaired muscle by providing the patient with a vibration proportional to muscle activation. The device is tested on two children with secondary dystonia due to dyskinetic cerebral palsy in a 5-day training protocol during the execution of a figure-eight writing task. Data are compared with 5-day training with no

Background and Aims: The purpose of this study was to compare the efficacy and usability of human-computer interface in cervical spinal cord injury with two computer games based and EMG biofeedback. Methods: The sample size was 20 participants (healthy and spinal cervical lesions) who were selected as available. The statistical population of the study was spinal cord injury patients referred t...
متن کاملThe effect of two different rehabilitation treatments in cervical dystonia: preliminary results in four patients.
The most widespread approach to rehabilitation of cervical dystonia is electromyographic (EMG) biofeedback. However, consensus is lacking regarding the true effectiveness of this technique. The aim of this study was to evaluate how cervical dystonia was influenced by two rehabilitative treatments, namely a standard biofeedback program and a novel physiotherapy program consisting of postural ree...
متن کاملManipulating Vibro-Tactile Sequences on Mobile PC
Tactile memory is the crucial factor in coding and transfer of the semantic information through a single vibrator. While some simulators can produce strong vibro-tactile sensations, discrimination of several tactile patterns can remain quite poor. Currently used actuators, such as shaking motor, have also technological and methodological restrictions. We designed a vibro-tactile pen and softwar...
